Siobhán Patterson

Originally from the North West of England, I began my hairdressing training in 1995 and my first job after qualifying was in a friend’s salon where the weekend clientele were mainly ravers who were off to clubs all over the North West, looking for outlandish upstyles that would withstand a weekender and all that goes with it.

On my first day there, I was presented with a full list of upstyles, a box of grips and 30 minutes to do each one. To say I was thrown in at the deep end would be an understatement! However, if it wasn’t for that deepend, I would never have realised my creative flair and ability to create and work under pressure. And, it set the foundations for what was to come much later in my creative career.

On moving to Ireland in 1998, I worked as a stylist in a leading salon in Galway and then in 2000 I began training with Toni & Guy where I quickly moved up the ranks to Style Director and Educator.

After years of volunteering for Macnas and loving it, I was asked to head hair design in 2022 for their comeback production CON MOR and am very proud and honoured to be able to say that I am now head of hair design and have headed another production this year (2023), Riversong which was part of the Ballina Salmon Festival in July and will be heading their two October Parades in Galway and Dublin (2023)

I have a passion for theatre that goes way back, I even went and studied it in Trinity but my time there was cut short due to an injury. However, here I am, combining my passions and eager to keep working and developing my skills as a hair designer and stylist by going on wig courses and researching hair in history for theatre projects.

Macnas has the ability to evoke my creativity, it gives me licence to go wild, however, all theatre excites me and I can’t wait to work alongside you on your projects and visions.
