Rosie Murray

Scenic Designer

Since completing an MA in Scenic Art at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, England in 2011, Rosie has worked extensively for Theatre and TV set designers producing backdrops and painted effects of every imaginable kind. Starting out, she has enjoyed contracts as full time in-house painter with the National Theatre, London England, and Cardiff Theatrical Services, Wales.“I have worked with many diverse designers over a 12 year career. I want to do everything in my power to not only help them realise their concept, but also use my knowledge and experience to push their vision to an even higher level.”

Rosie has most enjoyed painting sets for designers such as;  Anna Fleischle, (Hangman, and A Very Very Very Dark Matter, by Martin Mcdonagh),  Soutra Gilmore (Hot House ,Trafalgar Studios) , Bunny Christie (Light Princess, National Theatre England), Peter Mcintosh (Shadowlands, A Day In The Death of Joe Egg Trafalgar Studios). Rosie has also worked on notable West End productions such as War Horse designed by Rae Smith, Hamilton designed by David Korins, Kinky Boots designed by David Rockwell, and numerous Opera North sets for designer Giles Cadle.

She is experienced in many different design and construction processes. With a calm approach, she enjoys finding solutions if problems arise. Whatever the size/ budget of the set, she always enjoys producing a high quality standard of work. In between set painting she takes jobs as;  Portrait Painter, Long-time Graffiti Artist, Photography Backdrop Painter, Mural Artist, Sign Writer, Poly-carver and Fine Interior Decorator.

Rosie has recently moved back to Ireland to connect and work with the Irish theatre and film industry.
