After having received Arts Council funding under the Capacity Building Scheme, we have been running a series of meetings with Tríona Ní Dhuibhir towards our Strategic Plan, including PQ2023 for which we have formed a Subcommittee.

We submitted an application for PQ2023 to represent Ireland again, after our successful exhibition in 2019 and we are now looking at setting up a transparent process to curate and produce our exhibition.

The PQ Subcommittee have now met twice to begin plans for PQ2023. The current members are Deirdre Dwyer – Chairperson-, Liam Doona – Secretary -,  Sarah Jane Shiels – Deputy Secretary -, Niall Rea – Education Officer – and Molly O’Cathain.

We invite any members of ISSSD who are interested in being part of this working group to bring PQ 2023 to fruition to contact Deirdre Dwyer at deirdredwyer@gmail.com

You can find out all the information about PQ2023 in this link.

“The PQ 2023 theme is the RARE: art springing out of ideas, materials, artistic approaches, and design practices that connect to the human level from within your environment, with its genius loci and unique situation. Prague Quadrennial call on performance designers, scenographers, and performance practitioners to use their RARE imagination and creativity to help us envision what the world and theatre could look like in the post-pandemic future.”

There were 3 strands for the Countries / Regions Exhibition and we decided to apply for the 3rd one as we deemed it was the most collaborative approach that offered the possibility to include as many designers as possible: “Create future vision post-pandemic theatre, performance and scenography. How will our habits and routines change in the space of the post-pandemic world? How will we share those rare moments of human connectedness after the prolonged experience of isolation?”
